While the IRS tries very hard to provide service to all its citizens, there are times when the IRS doe not do a Does not meet the satisfaction or expectation of all taxpayers. Make any other government organizations due to lack of funding you may experience less than satisfactory service. For example, if you are calling the IRS hotline because you want to know where you tax refund is or what status is currently, there may not be enough agents available to assist with your tax questions.
For the purpose of the taxpayer advocates service TAS was created. The TAS job is to make sure that all the taxpayers are treated fairly and then you understand your rights as a taxpayer they can offer free help with IRS problems that you can't resolve by yourself. you can call them anytime at 1-877-777-4778 for assistance. the website is http://www.irs.gov/Advocate
